Business Model Overview

The business model of ShofarNexus is of an ecosystem, not a corporation. There is no central authority or entity to invest in or receive revenue from. It is a participation model in that anyone can offer services to any other party. Anyone can acquire services from any party that they desire to engage with.

A useful analogy is the farmers’ market. While the models vary, often there is simply a public place were vendors gather at given times to offer their products with no fees paid to any third party. A vendor selling tomatoes is not limited by the presence or absence of others selling the same. Customers have the freedom to choose any vendor for their desired products. The customer can decide for their own reasons, perhaps based on quality, taste, price or relationship, which vender they will choose and it does not have to be the same each time. The market becomes robust when a particular product is sourced by numerous vendors such that the temporary or permanent loss of a vendor does not impact the overall market.

Another analogy is home cooking versus a restaurant. Meals at home, perhaps from food from a farmers’ market, is prepared fully in the way desired with consideration of what resources are available, mood or desire. Today you might want to be a bit spicier, while tomorrow you will go with mild. Whereas a restaurant, especially those considered fast-food, will take a lot of the labor off you, but vastly limit your options. What is appropriate for each person is different and my change from meal to meal.

ShofarNexus applies these analogies to communications services. Any party can offer any service under any terms. There are no third party fees. One vendor may provide only an email front-end. Another vendor may provide audio services. Another distributed storage. Yet another can provide a combination of services. The skilled customer, or home chef, can pick and choose various services from various venders as desired. The novice customer may use a third party, a restaurant, to prepare a mix of services for them and perhaps provide some additional services.
